New Millenium Workout Epidemic
New Millenium Workout Epidemic is an ongoing process and exhibition by contemporary artist Yaloo. The New Millennium Workout Routine was issued in 1999 by the South Korean government and designed to enhance national well-being for the next thousand years. Yaloo digitally multiplies herself to perform the routine to celebrate human triumph at various historical monuments in world history. The iconic red unitard that she wears references the red thermal underwear that was one of the first westernized, mass-produced products introduced in modern-day South Korea. For Yaloo, this humble red thermal garment symbolizes wealth and longevity, as well as an intimate spiritual and material relationship between west and east.
